The Christmas school holidays have been bumper to bumper with various tennis opportunities for Hay’s youth.

Recently, Camp Six of the coaching clinics was held, with Brad Callaghan, Indyanna Wilson, and Stuart Callaghan at the helm.

There was a flurry of attendance, with 22 children participating in the session.

Hay is so fortunate to have the many opportunities that having a solid, gifted tennis family, and club provide.

Maggie Shields is one of the many tennis prodigies that is under the tutelage of Stuart, with her gaining selection last year in the Riverina team, with the state carnival being held in Albury.

Hay will enjoy some Valentine’s tennis fun, hosting the Deniliquin District Pre Selection Trials for the Riverina Public Schools boys and girls teams, to be held Wednesday February 14.

Tennis clubs’ night tennis competitions will commence on Wednesday February 21, with entries now being taken online or contact Tony Callaghan.

“Entries can be made for men’s, doubles, women’s doubles or mixed either entering with a partner or requesting a partner for different grades,” Tony said.

“A Monday night women’s doubles competition will also be held if sufficient entries are received.

“A junior singles and doubles competition will also be held again, also commencing on February 21.

“Good luck to the five juniors who have entered for the first regional juniors’ tournament at Wagga to be played this coming Sunday.

“To date, the tournament has attracted 47 players. Albury will hold their tournament on February 25.”
