Shop local

Madam,

The right to purchase and spend your hard-earned money under present circumstances is becoming harder on us all.

This great town we live in is mostly united and we enjoy the support of local business houses for most of our requirements for day to day living.

They are, in the main, extremely supportive in donations to all the sporting and charities when it comes to raffles and other fundraising associated with the viability of all those organisations.

If we as a community support them then they will remain viable and then allow them to give back, not only in donation but also employment.

If we continue to purchase our needs online or from Griffith or Deniliquin and have it delivered, all at a cost, which has no benefit to Hay, do these major national companies donate any of their profits to Hay? NO.

If we continue the behaviour, the hopping will be non-existent.

The cost of purchasing out of town is a false economy.

The business owners of the town are an amazing group of people whose costs are escalating as well as our own.

They are as competitive as they can viably be. Shop local - you need to open your eyes.

Look beyond the price, bi multinational companies give Hay nothing.

Bob Dougall.
