Historic cricket win - Hay takes out the O’Farrell Cup

“The best win of all time,” Hay cricketing legend David Davies.

As the O’Farrell cup celebrates 100 years in November, a result such as this has not been seen before, when Hay defeated the powerhouse Albury/Wodonga side.

David Davies, district cricketing and sports legend, who made his debut in the O’Farrell Cup in 1959, was at the Urana Road Oval to watch the game and his grandson Tom, who batted at number 3. David declared it the best win of all time.

After sitting out rugby league for several seasons, local talent Jye Thomspon has been confirmed as the latest signing for Hay Magpies.

Magpies first grade coach Chris Stewart confirmed the signing late last week.

“That’s been our focus when recruiting for this season,” he said.
