Hay Tourism has launched the Visit Hay Ticket, enabling tourists to visit four of Hay’s museums with just the one ticket.

The launch of the Visit Hay Ticket coincided with a new cooperative marketing campaign with Murray River and Edward River Councils through the Long Paddock Touring Route which promotes Hay to the Active Over 55 market.

“The active 55s are the new ‘grey nomads’,” Economic Development Officer, Alison McLean said.

“They like to really sink their teeth into a town and our complimentary bikes and one-ticket museum experience plays well to their desire to actively discover a town.

“Each year we have over 100,000 visitors to Hay and we want to make it as easy as possible for them to really experience Hay.

“Our museums are one of Hay’s main attractions and now, with the click of a button, visitors can book one ticket to visit Dunera Museum, The Hay Gaol, Bishops’ Lodge Historic House and Shear Outback.

“From visitor feedback, we know the one ticket will not only encourage visitors to experience each museum, it will also extend visitation and solve the new problem of having no cash.”

Mrs McLean said Hay had been incredibly lucky to have so many volunteers who have dedicated their time and effort to preserving Hay as a unique place in history.

She said as a result, Hay has a wonderful museum experience, that can now be booked online and promoted as a must-do experience.

“One of the changes we witnessed during COVID was a decline in the amount of cash people carry.

“With many of our museums now unmanned, we want to ensure that for those visitors who do not have cash, there is now an easy way to conveniently pay for their experience online.

“The ticket also ensures that our visitors know about all the museum experiences in Hay.”

The Visit Hay Ticket experience can be booked on the Visit Hay Website.
