Hang your heads in shame

To the Editor,

On Sunday, July 13 a truck loaded with firewood rolled and burnt 40 kilometres south of Hay.

Hang your heads in shame to the local and surrounding community members who turned up with their tray backs and trailers and helped themselves to the spill of firewood.

Did any of you ask whose this might be, did anyone of you even ask how you could help?

No, I guess not.

As I stood at the scene of the rollover it saddened me as each of you stopped and considered how could you get this wood without being caught.

We are of that age group where once there was a knock at the front door to ask if you might need some help.

Did anyone of you think to contact somebody, …. anybody, who could assist in helping with a salvage? No, I guess not.

Hang your heads in shame.

This young family man is a husband to Amanda and this young man is a dad to Harry, Ruby and Oliver.

We raised our three sons and two daughters to do an honest day’s work for fair return.

This young man is our son.

Bob and Carol – Hay’s very own wood merchants for the past 35 years.
