A NATION IN DECLINE
To the Editor
One would assume that most of the concerned citizens who attended the renewable energy meetings last week were fully aware that this once great and rich country has slipped into a nation of mediocrity, doomed to eventual chaos as we, figuratively speaking, continue to pee into the wind to no avail.
The conceit and absurdity of this deluded government's fraudulent and political obsession with global warming is a tragedy that is slowly bringing Australia to its knees.
Australian citizens who live in a country producing only one per cent of the world emissions are still in the dark as to the total government expenditure on emission policies; the subsidies, rebates, grants, cost of transmission lines, wind turbines, solar farms, large-scale batteries, redundancy payments to former coal-fired power plant workers and absurd electric vehicle incentives!! We do all this with a rising $27 billion debt this year.
Green energy costs, now at $9 billion, continue to grow beyond original estimates. What companies and important industries would have stayed and invested on our shores if this government had not imposed escalating energy costs. And to show how clever our government is, we gamely march on to desecrate our beautiful, once pristine countryside with these toxic, phallic symbols of stupidity. Furthermore, we hear the green agenda is now sheepishly running on the fumes from dangerous wind tower fires.
As we learnt from the energy companies, there would be no incentive in investing in these renewable power sources without the massive subsidies gleaned by government from the coffers of unwitting taxpayers.
Energy companies are already decommissioning windfarms because of the huge ongoing maintenance cost; and possible litigation in the future from constant shedding of toxic debris and chemicals and contamination of livestock products from wind turbines and solar panels on once unsoiled farmland.
Bound by slippery contracts signed with sometimes disappearing energy providers, the landholder may wear the removal of all structures and obscene scars on the countryside. The enormous, immovable plugs of concrete base material will justifiably serve as a constant reminder to future generations of their forebears' folly. Moreover, we have now become beholden to a despicable Communist country who we are so dependent upon for renewables. A country who could well become our enemy if not, eventually, our master.
Understandably, local councils readily accept the tempting handouts (bribes) from the renewable energy companies and deliberation of 'making hay while the sun shines' for the benefit of constituents. However, there will come a time when these undemanding resolutions are tarnished with uncomfortable regret. Yes, we must find cleaner, renewable sources of energy because fossil fuels will not last forever, but we must do it sensibly and never starting tenuous ventures without a solid backup to counteract possible failures along the way. Nothing this government has done or will do will have the slightest impact on our climate.
Meanwhile the largest emitters in the world who make up 64 per cent of all emissions, continue to increase their global output making our effort meaningless. We must act in our own best interests and like many other nations, switch to proven, safe, clean and reliable nuclear power with temporary fossil fuel backup.
If I managed Tupra Station like this government runs Australia, I would have been sacked 43 years ago.
